Our Founder
In 2022, constitutional lawyer Mike Yoder set out to address a critical need he encountered during his years in private practice. As the managing partner of Yoder Dreher Pearson LLP, Yoder built a reputation for aggressively defending civil liberties, particularly religious and medical freedom. However, he realized that many Americans were unable to pursue legal action to defend their rights due to two key barriers: financial constraints and lack of knowledge. Yoder saw countless individuals with cases that had the potential to make nationwide change, but many of these people simply didn’t have the resources to fund the long and costly journey of litigation in federal courts, even when they weren’t paying legal fees.
This realization led Yoder to create Citizen AG, a nonprofit organization aimed at empowering citizens and safeguarding their freedoms against unlawful mandates and government overreach. By founding Citizen AG, Yoder sought to extend legal representation to a broader segment of the population, helping individuals defend their personal autonomy and civil rights. The nonprofit model enabled Yoder to provide support to those who might otherwise be unable to afford the high costs of litigation, ensuring that financial limitations wouldn’t prevent deserving cases from moving forward.
Yoder’s work, particularly in defending religious freedom and medical autonomy, reflects his deep commitment to upholding the Constitution and holding the government accountable. Through Citizen AG, Yoder and his team have been able to take on high-powered entities such as the NSA, Department of Defense, and the Department of Justice. He has also fought against state and local government mandates, challenging leaders like Governors Gavin Newsom, J.B. Pritzker, Andrew Cuomo, and Kathy Hochul, as well as mayors including Bill de Blasio, Eric Adams, and Muriel Bowser.
Over the last three years alone, Yoder has filed more than 100 federal lawsuits, protecting over 3 million Americans from losing their jobs due to vaccine mandates that conflicted with their religious beliefs. His mission with Citizen AG is rooted in his belief that the foundational principles of liberty and justice must be accessible to all Americans, regardless of their financial circumstances. Through his nonprofit, Yoder aims to ensure that ordinary citizens have the tools and representation needed to fight back against unconstitutional mandates and policies, preserving individual freedoms for future generations.
